Daniel Lee Parkin - Artist and Writer

Daniel Lee Parkin composed and performed 'Palm of His Hand' as featured in the 20ll Oscar Nominated film 'Winter's Bone' directed and adapted for the screen by Oscar Nominee and Film Director Debra Granik.  'Palm of His Hand' was recorded and produced by Your Place or Mine Digital Music on location in a 205-year old log cabin originally built by a Cherokee Indian in the scenic Appalachian Mountains near Blue Ridge, Georgia for The Dirt Road Delight Debut Album. Debra Granik heard the song on Dirt Road Delight's Bandcamp web page while she was in post production for the film and liked it so much she gave it a minute-and-nine-seconds of Featured Background Vocal performance within the body of her Oscar Nominated film.

Here is a direct quote from Winter's Bone audio commentary by writer/director Debra Granik and cinematographer Michael McDonough. Debra Granik - "For some of the very charged parts of the film it was hard to pick the music. You know it when you hear it. We came across a very beautiful song called 'Palm Of His Hand' written by Daniel Lee Parkin and performed by Dirt Road Delight. This infused the scene with a sensibility that worked well the pictures and with Ree‟s feelings and memories. This is the kind of music that built up to making the soundtrack. We got really taken with it."

The preliminary version of Daniel's 'Palm of His Hand' recorded for his new unsigned album 'Songs From The Mountain' can be heard with the video above. The final version can be heard on Daniel's solo album CD 'Songs From The Mountain' available to record labels and music licensors upon written request from YPOM Digital.
